Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. —Ephesians 6:4
God has given parents the great responsibility of raising children and, as any parent can tell you, this is not always easy. That’s because the children we are raising are sinners. Every child born into this world has a heart that is bent toward sin and disobedience. As parents, we know that our child’s greatest need is salvation. And God, in His infinite wisdom, has designed the home and positioned parents to play a vital role in the salvation of their children.
The world boasts a myriad of different parenting techniques, but none of these secular models, however successful they appear, ever address a child’s greatest need. Most Christian parents understand that God clearly instructs us to raise our children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord.” We feel the responsibility to teach our children to know and fear Him, and we’re searching for clarity as to how we can faithfully complete the task. If this describes you, you are not alone.
This is the foundation of “Parenting for Life.” Whether you’re just contemplating parenthood, you have a baby or school-age children, or you’re shepherding sons and daughters through adolescence or young adulthood, come join us as we learn more about the biblical principles and fundamentals of parenting that enable us to fulfill the duties God has placed before us.
