It was fall 2002 when I enrolled in my first Logos class. I was teaching a high school Bible study at the time and began to recognize my need for additional Bible knowledge. A full-time job, however, prevented me from enrolling in a day class. Logos provided the ideal solution—an interactive classroom environment where I could deepen my understanding of the Bible and still maintain my career.
I ended up taking three Logos classes over the next year, which had an unanticipated result. Not only did my theological understanding deepen, as I had hoped, but I was introduced to a systematic approach to Bible study. Ultimately, Logos was one of the influences that led to my enrollment in The Master’s Seminary.
More than 30 years ago, Grace Church launched Logos to nourish our congregation’s hunger for God and godly living. Over the years, this training gave way to The Master’s College and Seminary, which meets this need on a vocational level. Accordingly, Logos Equipping Ministries has been modified to better serve the lay people of Grace Church. We offer five-week courses (discipleship counseling classes run for 12 weeks) which meet once a week for two hours and can be taken independently or as part of a certificate curriculum. All the classes are transferrable to The Master’s College toward the Degree Completion Program.
This academic year we have added classes to fit additional interests of our congregation. We offer four study tracks in Logos:
• Discipleship Counseling focuses on spiritual mentoring, family life, conflict resolution, and difficult counseling questions
• Biblical Studies introduces the student to each book of the Bible, enriching his or her knowledge of the history, purpose, major characters, and themes of each book
• Theology addresses issues related to the Bible, the Trinity, the church, sin, salvation, angels and demons, and end times through an exegetical approach
• Electives provide a more in-depth study of specific areas related to biblical studies (for example, current issues in Evangelicalism, church history, biblical languages, customs, and hermeneutics)
All our teachers are seminary trained and actively involved in ministry here on campus. Not only will you be challenged academically, but you will be able to interact with men who are passionate about serving the local church and coming alongside each student to equip him or her to do the work of the ministry (Ephesians 4:12).
We have one goal in Logos—to train believers with the Word of God. God’s Word restores our souls (Psalm 19:7), revives our emotions (Psalm 119:50, 107), pierces our hearts and judges our thoughts (Hebrews 4:12), and is the instrument that the Holy Spirit uses to conform us to the image of our Savior (Ephesians 6:17, John 17:17). If you desire to be challenged with the deep truths of theology and Scripture, and to become more useful in God’s Kingdom, consider enrolling in a Logos class today.
