How to Pray

Christians often use a simple acrostic as a guide to prayer: A.C.T.S. Each of the letters in this acrostic stands for one of the four important areas of prayer.

Adoration

Reflect on God Himself. Praise Him for His attributes, His majesty, His gift of Christ.
Psalm 117, 145, 147, 148

Confession

Admit to God you have sinned. Be honest and humble before Him as you confess your shortcomings.
1 John 1:9, Psalm 51

Thanksgiving

Tell God how grateful you are for everything He has given you, even the unpleasant things. He is the giver of all good things. Use this time to thank Him for His goodness toward you.
Psalm 136, 1 Thessalonians 5:18, Philippians 4:6, James 1:17

Supplication

Make specific requests. Pray for the needs of others, as well as your own needs.
Luke 11:5–13
