This summer, we are encouraging students to stay invested in Scripture throughout the next couple of months by following along in our 180 Bible Study Plan.
We will be reading and studying through some of the most iconic passages in Scripture. In hopes to not only read the Word, we will be walking through how we ought to study it. The students will learn how to properly dive into the intricacies of the Divine Word of God, study it diligently, and apply biblically.
Like last summer, participating students are invited to meet each Monday (alternating between Trophy Coffee and Steeple House), to discuss the reading from that day, led by one of our leaders.
We hope this Bible study plan will be a blessing to students this summer and pray that it will draw them closer to the Lord through their increasing knowledge of Him!
Take 15 minutes to read, read, and re-read the text. Then answer the following prompts:
Use some helpful resources and read the introduction of the book(s) for this week.
The plan is designed to help you keep up with your Bible reading and get the most out of Wednesday night Bible study this summer.
Tips to get the most out of your Bible reading:
We can't rightly understand God's Word without His help. Our sin also clouds our eyes and hardens our hearts to His truth. Because of this, as you approach God's Word, pray, confessing your sins to Him and asking Him to help you understand what He wants you to learn from what you read.
Your Bible reading is not something to simply skim through quickly. Read God's Word carefully and reverently, at a pace slow enough for you to understand what the passage means.
God commands us to love Him with all our mind (Mark 12:30). As you read, think carefully about what God is saying in the passage. One effective way to do this is to read with a pen in your hand and write down some observations and questions about the passage on a sheet of paper or in a notebook.
What did you learn from the passage? Praise the Lord and thank Him for revealing His truth to you.
How did the passage convict your heart? Confess your sin to God and ask His help to obey Him more fully. How does your life need to change in response? Ask God to help you understand how to apply His Word and to give you the strength to follow through in obeying it.
God wants us to be doers of His Word (James 1:22). Think through some practical ways to apply the passage you read. How should you think and live in light of this truth? It might be a good idea to write down a few goals for how you want to apply God's Word to your life today and going forward.
