Children’s Hunger Fund Local Outreach

Children's Hunger Fund (CHF) is a gospel-focused mercy ministry based in Sylmar, California. CHF's primary means of ministry involves "Food Paks"—boxes filled with non-perishable food goods that can feed a small family for a week. Food Paks provide for a physical need while serving as an illustration of the free gift of eternal life in Christ through the gospel. A Food Pak is never given without a clear call to faith in Christ as the only way to satisfy our truest and greatest need.

CHF is a local-church-oriented ministry and always seeks to effect mercy ministry through the agency of pastors and church members local to the person in need. This is also the goal in giving aid internationally and in times of disaster relief.

There are two ways for our church family to get involved in supporting this ministry—by volunteering and by supporting Project Food Pak.

Volunteering

There are regular opportunities to volunteer at the CHF facility in Sylmar. There is always work to be done, from bagging beans and fruit for Food Paks to sorting through donated clothing. This is a great opportunity for Bible studies to do a service activity together or for individuals who simply want to give of their time. Groups or individuals can register to volunteer on specific dates by visiting childrenshungerfund.org and select "Get Involved."

Project Food Pak

Every Spring Grace Church hosts a CHF Food Pak drive. This is an annual opportunity for our church family to partner with CHF and other churches around the city to demonstrate the love of Christ to those in need.

Poverty Encounter

Poverty Encounter is an interactive experience that allows families with children of any age to enter the world of those living in poverty through a guided exhibit and service activity. After hearing the stories of real families living in poverty, participants will have the chance to prepare resources that will be delivered directly into the hands of children in need.

Most importantly, participants will hear testimonies of how local churches are making a difference in each of these communities and bringing the gospel’s message of hope to the darkest places. To celebrate 5 years of this award-winning experience, we are offering $5 tickets all summer.
