FOR WOMEN ONLY. The Puritans were unique in their deep and experiential understanding of the believer’s life in Christ. In the historical context of fierce persecution, Puritan thinkers developed a beautiful theology of the triune God’s gracious plan of salvation, with rich implications for believers’ understanding of what it means to be united to Christ. This course will explore the Puritan idea of the believer’s union with Christ and the glorious benefits associated with it, such as faith, repentance, justification, sanctification, and perseverance. Students will also learn the historical background of the Puritans and ways to read their writings effectively.
