Children's Choirs

Our Mission

The mission of the children’s choirs of Grace Community Church is to provide the youth of our church the opportunity to serve the Lord and His saints—to use their voices to the glory of God and for the encouragement of the church body. We believe this involves coming alongside families by training the students to sing beautifully crafted songs and be instructed as to how to sing them with proper vocal technique. We pray that the lyrics of the songs and hymns they learn will foster solid theological knowledge as well as musical understanding as they grow up learning to serve within the church body, all for the praise of our Master and Creator, the Lord Jesus Christ.

About Us

Our Children's Choir includes Preparatory Choir (Kindergarten-1), Primary Choir (grades 1-3), and Juniors Choir (grades 4-6). No auditions for Preparatory or Primary Choir is required, but an audition is required for Juniors Choir. Our children’s choirs gather on scheduled Sundays from 4:45 to 5:55 pm, prior to Adventure Club and the evening service. Primary Choir meets in T260 and Junior Choir meets in T270. Rehearsals include preparation for singing in services and concerts at Grace Church as we learn hymns and anthems of the faith, lifting our voices in praise to the Lord. Children are encouraged in good vocal technique and in learning the basic elements of music notation.

To Join Our Team of Volunteers: If you are interested in volunteering to help with our children’s choir ministries, please contact Kellie Cunningham at kcunningham@gracechurch.org for more information on receiving a ministry application as well as a background check form. All volunteers must submit a leadership application to the music department as well as be cleared through Children’s Ministry.

FAQ

Does my child have to attend Sunday school and/or Adventure Club to participate in choir?
One or both is preferred.

What kind of obligations do we commit to by singing in the choir?
The Children's Choirs have periodic opportunities to serve on Sunday mornings and Sunday evenings, in the main services and fellowship groups. Specific dates will be emailed upon joining the choir and may be added through the course of the year. Please inform the director with as much advance notice if you have a date conflict.

Am I allowed to miss rehearsal?
A child must participate in a minimum of three rehearsals just prior to any singing opportunity. Any absences must be discussed with the children’s choir director/conductor, preferably with at least 24-hour notice.
