Simon is from New Zealand and put his faith in Christ in 1984, whereas Ann is Australian and trusted Jesus in 1979. They both felt drawn to missions at as young adults and met in Bible and missions training in Tasmania in 1991. God has blessed them with three adult children, Alan, Tania and Rachael and a beautiful daughter in law, Pathricia.
The Pyatts have served in Indonesia and Malaysia since 2006, mostly in training local pastors and missionaries. Much of Simon’s Bible training has been through Indonesian seminaries, although he is currently enrolled in the D.Min program at TMS. He has written five New Testament Bible commentaries in Indonesian and is currently editing his Systematic Theology. Ann is gifted with children and loves to encourage mothers.
The Pyatts joined John and Monica Zheng in Jakarta in 2024, where Simon and John established Akademi Eksposisi, a school which is working through the TMAI membership process and seeks to train local pastors.
Indonesia is an enormous mission field, whether one looks at the Muslim population, most of whom have little chance to hear the gospel, but also the millions of Christians, most of whom have fallen into syncretism or follow the prosperity gospel. Simon and Ann desire to be used by God to shine His light in this dark land and for Akademi Eksposisi to equip many godly men who will preach a clear gospel and faithfully handle the Word in their churches – All to the glory of the One who loved us and gave Himself for us (Gal 2:20).
