“These words, which I am commanding you today, shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your sons and shall speak of them when you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up.” —Deuteronomy 6:6–7
As the adage goes, strong families build strong churches—but more specifically, strong churches are made up of families who build their lives on the Word of God. Parents who commit themselves to faithfully raising their children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord contribute to the overall health of the body, and Grace Church has always invested in its families in light of this reality.
To that end, Parenting for Life, a two-day equipping seminar on biblical parenting, shares the good news that the Bible contains everything parents need to know about raising their children. Indeed, the biblical pattern for parenting is superior to any psychological or pragmatic model. God’s guidelines for parents, set forth in Scripture, are surprisingly straightforward; the Bible is never cryptic or mysterious about raising children. In Parenting for Life, parents will discover the Bible’s sufficient blueprint for raising children in a God-honoring way, from birth to adolescence, and be strengthened by the understanding of these truths.
Of course, no curriculum or comprehensive “program” can ensure that parents will never struggle or fail; ultimately, we must depend on God’s grace. At the same time, there is a mindset we must develop in order to be the kind of parents God wants us to be. As parents, we must recognize that every moment of life is a teaching opportunity, and God's Word calls parents to make the most of their time (Deuteronomy 6:7).
It is our prayer that the Lord will use Parenting for Life to help parents recognize and realize these realities in order to raise up a generation of families with a focus on and commitment to the authority of God’s Word, passed on faithfully from generation to generation. Whether you’re just contemplating parenthood, you have a baby or school-age children, or you’re shepherding sons and daughters through adolescence or young adulthood, come join us as we learn more about the biblical principles and fundamentals of parenting that enable us to fulfill the duties God has placed before us.
