“For this reason I also suffer these things, but I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Him until that day.”
— 2 Timothy 1:12 (LSB)

Behind Paul’s words to Timothy, there lies a weighty charge—the charge to be unashamed of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is a call for courage, fortitude, boldness, and humility—a call that is just as important for us today as it was for Timothy. Those who profess Christ are faced with innumerable pressures to compromise; in the courts of men’s hearts and kings’ rule, Christians are being tempted to abandon their commitment to the truth and wane in their boldness for the cause of Christ.

In light of these mounting pressures, Shepherds’ Conference 2022 is focused on the theme “Unashamed.” As a church, we must both boldly respond to this charge ourselves, and also steward this conference in support of the many shepherds who visit us every year—pastors and church leaders from around the world who are specifically tasked with leading others to remain resolute amidst the ever-shifting cultural sands of our time. In keeping with the mission of Shepherds’ Conference since its inception in 1980, our aim is that this time together would “provide the opportunity for men in church leadership to be challenged in their commitment to biblical ministry and to find encouragement together as servants of our Chief Shepherd.”

Our prayer, therefore, is that this conference will encourage and edify—that each message, breakout session, and providential conversation will help focus the hearts and minds of our attendees on the truth they have been called to proclaim with conviction and clarity.

Please consider how you might join us to this end by volunteering at this year’s conference, that the men may be served well as they are equipped with the courage to stand firm in service to Christ and His church—all so that Christ would be honored.
