Shepherding the Remnant

“Then I Myself will gather the remnant of My flock out of all the land where I have banished them and cause them to return to their pasture, and they will be fruitful and multiply.”— Jeremiah 23:3

Throughout Scripture, there is a repeated emphasis on a remnant of God’s people—believers persevering faithfully despite opposition and oppression, and godly leaders shepherding the remnant with courage, clarity, and conviction. Although there are many false undershepherds who have scattered God’s flock due to their lack of care, Yahweh, the chief Shepherd, will provide true undershepherds who will care for His flock, while declaring judgment on those who have not.

Ultimately, Yahweh has promised to save His people from all nations in the same manner He promised to restore exiled Israelites to their ancient land. Today, we can continue to be reminded that He will faithfully fulfill His promises as our Creator, Sustainer, and Savior as he raises up those who will lead His people to their lasting home.

With this in mind, Shepherds Conference 2023 is focused on the theme “Shepherding the Remnant.” As a church, we have an exciting opportunity to steward this conference in support of the many shepherds who visit us every year—pastors and church leaders from around the world who are both part of God’s remnant as well as specifically tasked with leading His people in our time. In keeping with the mission of Shepherds Conference since its inception in 1980, our aim is that this time together would “provide the opportunity for men in church leadership to be challenged in their commitment to biblical ministry and to find encouragement together as servants of our chief Shepherd.”

Our prayer is that this conference will encourage and equip—that each message, breakout session, and providential conversation will help focus the hearts and minds of our attendees on the truth they have been called to proclaim faithfully.

Please consider how you might serve at this year’s conference, or financially support a pastor who will be attending. Most importantly, please pray that this conference would honor Jesus Christ by equipping each attendee with the courage to stand firm in service to Christ and His church.
