For the past seven years, our Children’s Ministry has had the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Great Commission and to bless countless families and their children through Vacation Bible School. This summer will be our eighth VBS here at Grace Community Church! We are excited to share the gospel once again with the children of both our church and the community in the hope that some will become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.
This year’s theme, “In Search of the Savior,” will focus on the life of Jesus. Our prayer is that the children who join us will be forever impacted by the life of Christ and trust in Him as their Savior. They will learn from the conversation between Nicodemus and Jesus what one must do to have eternal life (John 3:1–18). They will see the authority of Jesus to forgive sin in the healing of the paralytic (Mark 2:1–13). They will discover that, in their search for the Savior, it is Jesus who came to seek and save the lost (Luke 19:1–10). Finally, they will be taught that he necessary response to God’s revelation of His Son is to confess that Jesus is the risen Lord who conquered sin on behalf of sinners (John 20:19–29).
We expect this summer’s VBS to be even bigger than last year’s, as we are anticipating over 1,000 children to fill our campus. This is an incredible opportunity for our church to proclaim and uphold God’s truth and to exemplify the love and care that our Savior has for children.
Children’s Ministry has been actively planning for this week, and we invite you to join us! There are three practical ways our church family can help:
Pray for the children, the families, and the members of our community who participate in VBS. Pray that the gospel of Jesus Christ would be communicated clearly and that hearts would be receptive to God’s saving truth.
We are looking for volunteers to help during the week of VBS, June 20–23, with set-up, small groups, games, crafts, food, and more—all with the goal of planting seeds for the gospel. Visit the Volunteer Registration page for more information.
If you are not able to volunteer but would still like to assist in the ministry, consider donating. All children who attend VBS attend free of charge, and all financial gifts help us to continue offering VBS at no cost to families.
We hope you will join us for VBS this summer. We are excited to see how the Lord will use this week to make an impact for eternity.
