Planting Gospel Seeds

An Invitation to Serve Our Children

Once again, our Children’s Ministry has the wonderful opportunity to participate in the Great Commission this summer as we minister to countless families and their children through Vacation Bible School, June 18–21. We are excited to share the gospel with the children of both our church and the community in the hope that many will become disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ.

This year’s theme, Indiana Joe and the City of Gold, will focus on what it means to be a part of God’s great Kingdom of Heaven. As believers, we anticipate eternity with God in His holy city, described in Scripture as being made of pure gold, like pure glass, through which God’s glory will shine forth to the entire city (Revelation 21:18) Our prayer is that the children who join us this summer will see how Jesus Christ makes a way into this Kingdom through His glorious gospel.

Throughout the week as they explore with Indiana Joe, they will learn that the journey into the Kingdom of Heaven begins with repentance (Matthew 3:2), and that it is only possible with God (Matthew 19:26). They will discover that those who are truly great in the Kingdom are the humble who trust in Christ (Matthew 18:1–6). Finally, they will learn that the journey into the Kingdom of Heaven is worth the cost and is the most precious treasure in all the world (Matthew 13:44–46). Because of Christ, those who repent and believe in him will reach the city where “the dwelling place of God is with man, and He will dwell with them, and they will be His people” (Revelation 21:3). We pray that this week of truth-filled fun will bring many children to a saving knowledge of Christ.

We are overwhelmed at God's kindness to continue to grow our VBS since we began this ministry almost a decade ago. We anticipate that this year will bring over 1,000 children to fill our campus. This is an incredible opportunity for our church to proclaim and uphold God’s truth and to exemplify the love and care that our Savior has for children.

Children’s Ministry has been actively planning for this week, and we want to invite you to join us! There are three practical ways our church family can help.

  1. Pray. Pray for the children, the families, and the members of our community who participate in VBS. Pray that the gospel of Jesus Christ would be communicated clearly and that hearts would be receptive to God’s saving truth.
  2. Volunteer. We are looking for volunteers to help during the week of VBS with set-up, small groups, games, crafts, food, and more—all with the goal of planting seeds for the gospel. Volunteer registration opens April 1.
  3. Give. If you are not able to volunteer but would still like to assist in the ministry, consider donating. All children who attend VBS attend free of charge, and all financial gifts help us to continue offering VBS at no cost to families.

We hope you will join us for VBS this summer. We are excited to see how the Lord will use this week to make an impact for eternity!
