Seventy years ago, Grace Community Church was born out of a simple but profound conviction: children matter to God, and they must be taught His Word.

In early 1956, several young couples from the Country Church of Hollywood recognized a growing need among the families in their congregation. There was no ministry devoted to the spiritual care and instruction of children. After repeated efforts to encourage church leadership to address that need, they became persuaded that the Lord was leading them to begin a new church—one that would faithfully minister to entire families by intentionally shepherding their children.

The response was immediate. On July 1, 1956, more than one hundred people gathered for the first service of Grace Community Church.

Those early days were marked by substantial sacrifice. Families gave generously, and some even assumed second mortgages, so that a permanent home could be purchased at 13248 Roscoe Boulevard. They understood that investing in the next generation was not merely an expense to be managed, but a stewardship to be embraced. They believed that teaching children the truth of God’s Word would bear fruit for generations to come.

That commitment remains unchanged today.

This summer, more than 1,200 children filled our campus during Vacation Bible School. Week after week, over 1,000 children are taught in Sunday School and Adventure Club. They hear the gospel, memorize Scripture, sing truths about Christ, and are lovingly discipled by faithful servants. We cannot yet measure the full harvest of these labors. Only eternity will reveal how many lives have been transformed because a child came to know and love the Lord Jesus here at Grace Church.

The opportunities before us are significant, and so are the needs. Yet we have inherited a legacy of joyful sacrifice from those who came before us.

We invite you to join in that same faith-filled investment. As the Lord enables, would you consider giving sacrificially toward the ministries that serve the children and families of Grace Church? Together, we have the privilege of helping proclaim the excellencies of Christ to another generation (Psalm 78:4–7).

As we thank God for seventy years of His faithfulness, we look ahead with anticipation, trusting Him to raise up generations yet unborn who will know His truth, love His Son, and proclaim His gospel.

Gratefully,

The Elders of Grace Community Church
