There Has Always Been a Battle for the Bible
From the moment the serpent asked, “Did God really say?” God’s Word has been under assault. While past generations fought to uphold the inspiration and inerrancy of Scripture, the battle presently continues on another front: the sufficiency of Scripture. Some endorse the veracity of the Bible but hesitate to acknowledge its authority over every matter of life, choosing to allow other voices and professionals outside of Scripture to shape their thinking and practice. But a divine word that cannot speak to the matters of this life is no word at all.
We are convinced that the Bible is sufficient for every discipline and situation, and we are also convinced that this is the moment when we must secure that conviction. Pastor MacArthur wisely observed that the first generation in any movement defends doctrine, the second enjoys it, and the third loses it. Our burden is that this generation—in every church and ministry represented—would be that first generation: defending the truth of God’s Word and advocating for its sufficiency with passion, clarity, and conviction.
To that end, on November 6–7, The Master’s University (TMU) is hosting The Sufficiency of Scripture Summit. In partnership with affiliated ministries, this conference is meant to galvanize our generation to understand, embrace, and defend the doctrine of the sufficiency of Scripture. Through preaching, seminars, resources, fellowship, and hospitality, our goal is to provide clarity and instill courage in a cultural moment marked by confusion and cowardice.
During the summit, Pastor Nathan Busenitz and Dr. Abner Chou, along with guest speaker H.B. Charles, will present a historic statement on the sufficiency of Scripture formed by scholars and pastors in our ministries and reviewed by ministers across the world. Those who attend the conference will be the official initial signatories of this statement, which is designed to be a helpful guide for our churches, schools, and ministries to define and defend Scripture’s sufficiency. This is a truly historic moment we hope to share with you.
We would be honored by your presence and participation, and we welcome you to invite like-minded friends to gather for this important occasion. Together, let us contend for the sufficiency of God’s Word and equip the church to stand firm in this generation and beyond.
