In every generation, God raises up faithful men and women who courageously live for His glory, leaving behind a testimony that still speaks today. The Puritans were such people. They were not cultural conformists or spiritual minimalists, but believers who sought to order their entire lives around the authority of God’s Word. Their devotion, endurance, and zeal for truth form a rich legacy for us to learn from in our own day.

Living in an age of compromise, the Puritans stood firmly on Scripture. They pursued holiness not as a legalistic burden but as the joyful response of a heart captivated by Christ. Their writings remind us that true religion is not outward ritual, but inward devotion springing into every area of life. Richard Baxter once wrote, “Christ is not sweet until the sinner is made bitter to himself.” Such statements reveal the depth of their understanding of sin and grace, and their boldness in proclaiming it without apology.

The Puritans also modeled courage. Many suffered exile, imprisonment, and even death for their convictions. Yet, they pressed on, seeing themselves as pilgrims bound for a heavenly city. Their vision of life—centered on the glory of God—empowers us today to stand unshaken amid the shifting sands of culture. They teach us to endure affliction, embrace obedience, and set our gaze on eternity.

Why should modern Christians recover this legacy? Because we live in similarly challenging times. Distractions, shallow spirituality, and doctrinal compromise abound. What the Puritans handed down to us—through their writings, sermons, and faithful examples—is a well of truth that equips us to live courageously in our generation. By learning from them, we rediscover how to cultivate a God-centered life, how to shepherd our families, how to endure trials, and how to worship with reverence and awe.

This is why the Puritan Conference exists. It is more than a gathering—it is a call to remember our heritage and be strengthened by the courage of those who went before us. At this conference, you will hear today’s leading theologians and pastors unpack the theology, preaching, and pastoral heart of the Puritans. You will discover how their writings remain profoundly relevant, equipping us for worship, discipleship, and evangelism today.

The Puritan Conference is not simply about history; it is about transformation. As you learn from their example, you will be equipped to live more faithfully in your own walk with Christ, your family, and your church. It is an opportunity to be reminded that the same God who sustained the Puritans in times of trial is the same God who strengthens His people today.

We invite our church family to join us for this life-changing conference on October 3–4, 2025, here at Grace Church, centered on the theme: “Living for God’s Glory.” Many conferences held here on our campus provide an opportunity to serve, and our church family is consistently faithful to fill these needs with humility and sacrifice. Yet our hope is that this conference, with a limited need for volunteers, provides our church family with an opportunity to be refreshed through fellowship with other members of the body and through biblical teaching at this conference.

Come and be encouraged, instructed, and inspired by the enduring legacy of the Puritans—and discover anew the joy of living courageously for Christ. Register by Thursday, September 18 at puritanconference.org.
